Guidelines

Submitting a wallpaper is easy!

There are a few things we do ask of you though.

  1. Please add a url for www.mahou.org on your wallpaper it doesn't need to be prominant in any way just suttle in a corner faded out. This is so people will know where to get more of the same if the wallpaper ever ends up on a foreign site.
  2. Wallpapers don't have to have a "family rating" if you want to have nudity that's fine but keep it tasteful!
  3. In your email, please state that we can keep this wallpaper on our site forever. We will never sell these or do any such thing as offered paid subscription however, once submitted we do intend to keep these wallpapers on our site forever.

That's it! if you have any issues with the above requirements feel free to discuss it with us i'm sure we can work something out.

Tips and Suggestions

Creating wallpapers in different aspect ratios is a pain but in the end it's all worth it.

For instance, if you create a 1920x1200 (16:10) wallpaper, converting this over to 1600x1200 (4:3) and 1500x1200 (5:4 typically used by LCDs) is fairly easy.

Something to keep in mind.
Don't scale the background, just crop it down to 1600x1200 or 1500x1200. From here you have a choice, you can scale your objects, ie, from 1920 -> 1600 you would scale down your objects to 83.3% (16.7% smaller) from 1920 to 1500 it would be 78.1% (21.9%). In some cases scaling isn't nessicary and in some it is that's up to you, but this will keep the wallpaper looking crisp and clean by not scaling the background.

It's not the end of the world if your wallpaper wasn't originally widescreen, but at the very least you should try and do a 5:4 version out of a 4:3 version.

If you're lazy and don't feel like doing any of this, just sending us one version is fine, too!

How to Submit

Please make sure that the image you submit is in PNG format only. It must be an unscaled version of the image.

The image itself should be the highest possible resolution -- ie, it's native resolution it was created in. Don't worry about scaling we will handle that ourselves

Please see below for a list of acceptible resolutions we'll take submissions in.

Note
1500x1200 is also an OK resolution, please look under the Tips and Suggestions section. While it is not an official resolution we use it to generate the 1280x1024 resolution.

Sending it in

That's it!, the next steps are simple for submission.

For each paper, send along with your email:

  1. Series name.
  2. Date it was created.
  3. Your email if you wish to have one posted. (optional)
  4. Any notes about the wallpaper. (optional)
  5. URL to your personal site. (optional)
  6. A small blurb stating it's OK for us to keep this wallpaper on our site forever. Don't worry we're not going to sell it or do any of that silly stuff. If you want you can add a blurb about not selling it (if that makes you more comfortable)

Please send along each wallpaper in an email to wallpapers at mahou.org
